When her softball team is cut at Will Rogers High, a Cherokee girl draws inspiration from Will Rogers and decides to play boys baseball despite sabotage from the school superintendent.

The Will To Win movie producers are connecting with various Native artisans across Oklahoma to explore ways that their art, jewelry, pottery, clothing and other items could be incorporated into the movie. These items could drive the storyline of the lead, Sky Forest, and her grandmother, who are Native American.

WILL ROGERS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Producers are working with Tulsa Public Schools (TPS) and administrators at Will Rogers High School to determine logistics of playing baseball on the school’s actual baseball field. Will Rogers High has earned its spot as one of Tulsa’s most iconic places. Not only is it known for its stunning Art Deco architecture, but for its list of notable alumni as well, including author S.E. Hinton, musicians Leon Russell, David Gates (of Bread) and Elvin Bishop, actor Gailard Sartain, and All-Star baseball coach Gordon Morgan.

ANIMAL WRANGLERS

Anytime animals are used for movies and television, Wranglers are brought in to professionally handle the animals on set. Sydney Alison, on the Will To Win team, has the task of finding wranglers who handle horses and “domesticated” deer for the Will To Win movie, because nearly nine decades after his death, Will Rogers and his favorite horse Soapsuds might just make an appearance in the movie! No spoilers here on how a deer could be a part of the story.
